One for sorrow ๐Ÿ‘ค, two for joy๐Ÿ‘ค๐Ÿ‘ค, teen tigaraa kaam bigaraa๐Ÿ‘ค๐Ÿ‘ค๐Ÿ‘ค... The Runaway Bride, who gets skittish at the altar... Just back from the movie... Have lots to say about this cross-border run-com... A movie that uses India & Pakistan as a backdrop and is not a political drama. It looks at our neighbouring country through a humorous lens. I liked how the characters squabble in Hindi and Urdu, the intricacies of both the languages... The movie showcases the local milieu and brings out the flavours of Indo-Pak... It is a feel-good film unlikely to offend anyone... The charm meter is turned up, in parts, the secondary characters click... Jimmy Sheirgill is the director's good-luck charm, who decides to go against the wind, and still manages to churn out hits... Abhay Deol is the refined, soft-spoken, suave, likeable, solid, supportive man... Diana Penty's unassuming demeanour and confidence...(is it flattering to be flanked by three men ๐Ÿ™ƒ) .... From Meera in Cocktail, (four years back) an introverted and reserved character, to this feisty, strong, independent, sharp-tongued - Happy, she has managed to overcome her inhibitions by taking an unconventional route...

This is a simple movie, with a simple little moral and not one to be dissected and examined frame by frame... Jimmy's dry wit and wry asides, as he at first struggles to come to terms with the fact that Happy has run away... "O yaar, card batt chuke hai"... The primary funny bits lie in how he does his damnedest to connect with her and convey what his predicament now is... "Ji mai to do pyaar walo ko milane Pakistan gaya tha"... Whether he succeeds or not is left for you to see... Happy does come across as a bit overshadowed here... Nice to see the eccentric talents of the many characters being strutted out on screen... So, the cinematography might not exactly blow you awY, but what is refreshing is being able to see Abhay, an actor usually known for his intensity, play such a decent role...
